Who is Dirk Nowitzki?

Born in 1978 in Würzburg, Germany, Dirk Nowitzki’s career skyrocketed after his breakout performance at the 1998 Nike Hoop Summit. Drafted by the Dallas Mavericks, he would go on to spend his entire 21-season NBA career with the same team – a rarity in modern professional sports. With over 31,000 points, he is the highest-scoring European player in NBA history and ranks sixth on the league’s all-time scoring list. In 2011, he led Dallas to its first NBA championship and was named Finals MVP. In 2007, he became the first European to be named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player.
